Switch versus Switch 2
Updated 2026-10-16. Checked 2026-10-16.
They are two products. The US Nintendo page lists $49.99, 8.8 GB for Switch, and 12.7 GB for Switch 2. It does not publish a frame rate. A community thread says the Switch 2 physical release is a game-key card and that Switch 1 saves do not load.
I am labeling the key-card and save notes as community reports. The Nintendo page now exposes the two storage figures, but not a frame rate. If you own one Nintendo console, buy that version. Do not expect a free upgrade.
What is known
The official storage figures are 8.8 GB on Switch and 12.7 GB on Switch 2. Performance comparisons of 30 fps are not in the official text I have. Treat them as unverified until a patch note or a store spec says otherwise.
Questions
Can I start on Switch and move to Switch 2?
Not with the reports in hand. See the upgrade page.
