Is there a Switch 2 upgrade?
Updated 2026-10-16. Checked 2026-10-16.
No upgrade path is listed, free or paid. Switch and Switch 2 are separate purchases. Community and guide notes say the saves do not transfer. I could not find a Square Enix post that spells this out in one sentence, so do not treat this page as a press release.
The useful consequence: if you might own a Switch 2 by launch, buy that copy. A second purchase will not inherit the demo save from the other Nintendo system.
Demo saves
The demo save carries into the full game on the same platform. It does not, on the reports above, jump from Switch to Switch 2.
